“Hey God, can I ask you something?”
New book to help parents and kids find answers to those BIG questions
Children always seem to have dozens of questions about life, the world and everything around them.
For Christian parents it’s sometimes hard to formulate Biblical answers to questions kids ask about God and what it means to be a Christian. Often parents can feel quite overwhelmed when it comes to finding just the right answer to help their child grow in Christ.
“Hey God, can I ask you something?” is a brand-new easy to read question-and-answer style book for children and their parents, designed to provide Biblical answers to many of the general questions primary school aged children ask about God, Jesus, and the authenticity of the Bible.
Each chapter tackles a new question like “Hey God, who are you really?”; “Dear God, how do I talk to you?”; “Excuse me God, was Jesus just make believe or was he a real person?”; and “Um, God, what if I’m scared of dying?”
“Hey God, can I ask you something?” not only provides primary aged school aged children with answers grounded in Scripture, it’s also an excellent resource for parents, grandparents, schoolteachers, and Scripture teachers to work through with their kids.
Each chapter of “Hey God, can I ask you something?” ends with a quirky ‘Did you know?’ factoid to help further illuminate each chapter.
Author and dad, Brad Emery, like many Christian parents, felt frustrated about the limited resources available to help provide bible-based answers to many of the questions asked by his young daughter.
“I found that there were very few, easy to read books for primary school aged children that cut to the heart of questions they have about the fundamental aspects of Christianity,” Mr Emery said.
“As a professional writer, and with the help of friends who are pastors, I decided to put pen to paper and create “Hey God, can I ask you something?”. I wanted the book to have a somewhat unique approach in that the reader is positioned as the 'questioner', directly, yet respectfully asking God questions. This creates the impression for the reader that they are directing the path of the narrative.”
“I think Christian parents, grandparents, Sunday school teachers and anyone involved in ministry to primary school aged children will find it an amazing resource. I also think kids themselves will be comfortable enough giving 'Hey God, can I ask you something?' to their friends,” he said.
'Hey God, can I ask you something?' features amazing, colourful illustrations from illustrator Tiarne Hookham.
“It was terrific to be able to work on a project designed to bring the Bible and the truth about Jesus to life for children,” Ms Hookham said.
“There were so many good concepts to work with. It was a thrill to experiment and work out the best images and colours to use to ensure the book appeals to primary school aged children,” she said.
'Hey God, can I ask you something?' is published by Soul Window Books and can be ordered at www.HeyGod.info
